A Relaunched Echo Soap Box Debate Commentary From The Editor

Fani Willis is the District Attorney of Fulton County, Georgia, USA. She took office on January 1, 2021, after defeating the incumbent, Paul Howard, in the Democratic primary election. Willis is the first woman and African American to hold the district attorney position in Fulton County. Before her election, she worked as a prosecutor in the Fulton County District Attorney's Office and as a private practice attorney.
As far as the relaunched Echo, NJ's oldest Black-owned newspaper, is aware when reviewing the case that has been brought against Willis, that there are no real allegations of Fani Willis doing anything wrong. She has been praised for her commitment to criminal justice reform and her efforts to hold police officers accountable for their actions. The problem is the mess that former President Donald J Trump left behind that is now being called out on. If only Georgia lawmakers could make up their minds to stone Willis for being a healthy, attractive, sexually active adult. Or call out Trump for harassing Georgia's Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, a fellow Republican, with harassing phone calls that lasted more than an hour in January 2021. All while hoping to bully Raffensperger to overturn the state's presidential election result.
The shocking case of election interference in Georgia that involves former President Donald J. Trump and 14 of his allies has stirred up a lot of controversies because it's against the law to call up a Secretary of any State and ask them to "find you some votes so that you can win an election." But in authentic White Fragility Style, the attention has been taken off of the White guy who committed serious Federal lawbreaking like our friends here in N.J. And focused on Black professionals who engage in traditional romantic relationships between men and women. The desperate need to control a Black male and female relationship is reminiscent of slave codes, which is preposterous in this day and age. Yet here America stands, witnessing on TV just how sick racism is, not to mention the people of all colors, like Judge Joe Brown, who condone such ignorant, overreaching attacks against fellow black citizens and professionals.

In conclusion, let's not forget the ongoing hassles that have tainted this case that are economic and make certain folks feel uncomfortable because Willis and Wade receive salaries that are on par with their peers who are non-Black. It makes one feel like quoting an old Gil Scott-Heron quote, "Dot Dot Dit Dit Dot Dot Dash!" Translated: Dam, if I know what's happening because these fools are prosecuting the district attorney instead of the individual who did the crime because she's Black.
I'd love to hear your feedback on the systematic racism Willis and Wade face as quality lawyers in their profession. On a side note, if you have been following this case on TV, her father and Willis have run circles around their accusers; it is quite a show. Yet somehow, as we read about the case of Ms. Willis and Mr. Wade as Black consumers and voters, this case also reveals that there are more than enough quality, talented, and fearless Black lawyers who could push through Black folks' reparations by simply enforcing the law. But they don't. Why?
