Nacovin J. Norman, Ed.S., M.A., stands out as a transformative leader in New Jersey’s educational sphere, recognized for his remarkable impact and visionary approach. With over 20 years of dedicated service, Mr. Norman is an influential figure whose leadership extends beyond traditional boundaries, shaping education, advocating for labor rights, and empowering the middle class.
Mr. Norman’s career began in the classroom, where he made significant strides as a Pre-Kindergarten and Second Grade Teacher in Camden, NJ. His early dedication to fostering inclusive education earned him the Professional Classroom Management and Special Needs Inclusion Award in 1999, highlighting his commitment to creating a safe and stimulating learning environment for all students.
Transitioning into school psychology, Mr. Norman has played a pivotal role in the Camden Board of Education since 2015. As the School Psychologist Team Leader and Equity Fellow, he has been instrumental in developing programs that address educational disparities and support diverse student needs. His experience at Brookfield Academy and Camden’s Charter School Network further underscores his expertise in managing educational programs, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving staff development.
Beyond his professional achievements, Mr. Norman’s leadership as President of the Camden City Federation of School Psychologists (AFT) has been groundbreaking. Under his stewardship, the union secured one of the fastest collective bargaining agreements in history, delivering record raises and enhanced benefits for members. This achievement not only underscores his commitment to labor rights but also highlights his role in strengthening the middle class through equitable wage negotiations.
Mr. Norman’s engagement with the New Jersey State Conference of NAACP and the Cherry Hill Democrat Committee reflects his deep-rooted dedication to social justice and community advancement. His military service in the US Army Reserves and the NJ National Guard, marked by several commendations, further exemplifies his discipline and commitment to public service.
Currently pursuing a Doctorate in Educational Leadership with a focus on Organizational Learning, Innovation, and Leadership from Wilmington University, Mr. Norman continues to push the boundaries of educational excellence and innovative solutions.
