HBCU Football Teams Selected for the First Annual Florida Beach Bowl Battle by the Beach in South Florida, Game Day is set for December 13 (Black PR Wire) Fort Lauderdale, FL – Today, the CIAA and SIAC conferences' leadership has announced the selected teams for the First Annual Florida Beach Bowl. The Johnson C. Smith Golden Bulls (7-3) will take on the Fort Valley State Wildcats (7-3) at the inaugural Florida Beach Bowl, set for Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at 7:30 PM at DRV. PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale.

"We are thrilled to bring these top teams to South Florida and make waves and score big for the Fort Lauderdale area and the surrounding communities." Johnson C. Smith University (JCSU), representing the visiting team on game day, is a private Historically Black College and University in Charlotte, North Carolina. Sitting at the highest point in Queen City, JCSU has been a beacon of hope, intellectual capital, social justice, and economic development since it was founded in 1867. "We are honored to participate in this historic event," said JCSU's Head Coach Maurice Flowers. "It's a testament to our athletes' hard work, dedication, and resilience. We are ready to bring our A-game to Fort Lauderdale." Fort Valley State University (FVSU), representing the home team on game day, has historically been rated Georgia's #1 public.

The Florida Beach Bowl (FBB) will conduct a virtual press conference on Thursday, November 16, at 2 PM. Media will hear from the FBB leadership and representatives from each selected team. A media advisory with the registration link will be sent to the press.

The deadline to apply for consideration is Friday, November 27. Media who are unable to attend the Tuesday, December 12 Media Day (time TBA) or the Wednesday, December 13 game will be able to access press conference video recordings through a DropBox link that will be posted in the media section of the Florida BeachBowl.com website.
