Monmouth County Freedom Story Series titled "Entwined" acknowledges the relationship between Native Americans & the African enslaved population of Monmouth County NJ. Mini-Documentary provides an intimate perspective of how 1st Nation North American people and enslaved Africans built relationships and families together in New Jersey.

(Echo Newspaper was named after Leroy Rock's Grandmother Emma Schanck indigenous Lenni-Lenape name that meant "echo.")


When: Sunday, Nov. 14, 1:00--2:30 PM Where: Online via Zoom (details below) Learn the fascinating story, delivered in the oral history tradition, by Claire Garland (Cherokee) and Norris Branham (Leni-Lenape) about their lineage and heritage. Watch a short documentary focusing on this largely unknown story about the Native American people and the African enslaved population of Monmouth County dating from the 1600s. After the 20-minute film, there will be ample opportunity for dialogue. (At least one of the principles in the film is expected to join us.) Looking forward to your attendance!
