James Jerome Hankins is an accomplished author and educator best known for his book "What Blacks Need To Do Part 2." In this insightful work, he compiles lessons to empower parents and students, emphasizing the importance of civics education, which he believes is increasingly neglected in public schools. With a background as a lifelong educator and a retired shop teacher with 34 years of experience, Hankins draws on his extensive teaching experience, particularly with sixth-graders, to highlight the critical need for civic awareness among young people. He shares his concerns about the consequences of misinformation and the growing disconnection from the governmental processes, especially in light of political developments and the potential dismantling of essential educational resources.

Hankins advocates for community organization and proactive engagement, urging progressives to reflect on past electoral defeats and strategize for future success. He emphasizes the importance of Education in overcoming ignorance and highlights the need for informed voting and civic participation. As a journalist, Army veteran, NAACP life member, and a proud alum of North Carolina A&T State University, he brings a wealth of experience and a passionate voice to education and civil rights discussions.

Overall, Hankins' work calls for reflection, action, and commitment to ensure young people have the knowledge and skills to navigate and influence their world effectively. Please enjoy this week's commentary from our always fiesty Brother Jerome Hankins. echonewstv.com

Here's a passage from my book: "WHAT WE BLACKS NEED TO DO PART 2." LESSON #1 of 44 for parents and students. I have worked through the five stages of grief to overcome the shock of Trump's reelection. As a lifelong educator, I will dedicate the next 22 months (every two weeks) to writing about and teaching civics, a subject no longer taught in public schools. Trump and his allies, including Republican members of the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate, secured over 50% of the votes from individuals unaware or indifferent to how the government functions. Trump aims to dismantle the U.S. Department of Education, ensuring your children remain ignorant of how the system governs approximately 85% of their lives. The favored saying among greedy "minimum wage" employers and MAGA politicians, penned by my nephew, is "The less they learn, the more we earn." Trump is now appointing the 15 cabinet members that the 51 U.S. Senators must confirm. The cabinet's purpose is to advise him on matters related to the duties of each office. The 12 disciples Jesus chose were not the most elite, experienced, honest, or intelligent; they didn't need to be because Jesus' role was to teach and guide them.

Roles Trump aims to appoint:

The Cabinet Secretaries include: (1.) Agriculture. (2.) Commerce. (3.) Defense. (4.) Education. (5.) Energy. (6.) Health and Human Services. (7.) Homeland Security. (8.) Housing and Urban Development. (9.) Interior. (10.) Justice. (11.) Labor. (12.) State. (13.) Transportation. (14.) Treasury. (15.) Veterans Affairs. Professor William T. Kelley, one of Trump's instructors at the Wharton School of Business, remarked, "Trump was the dumbest *%@@ student he ever attempted to teach." https://studyinternational.com/news/trump-student-wharton/ Can you envision Trump imparting the skills and complex analysis needed to oversee 15 departments? I am eager to make my North Carolina 7th District U.S. House Representative, David Rouzer, and U.S. Senator Thom Tillis well-known and present them with a "PINK SLIP" in the 2026 mid-term election. If your representatives are as inadequate as mine, please display their names on your refrigerator and "TELL SOMEBODY" about them. AFRICAN PROVERB: "The mind of a fool is like a broken pot; it will hold no wisdom."

EXCERPT FROM MY BOOK "WHAT WE BLACKS NEED TO DO PART-2." This is lesson 2 of 44 for parents and students. Public schools faced challenges with the banning and burning of books, and board members halted the teaching of CIVICS because billionaires and influential figures appreciate my nephew's economic RAP: "The less we learn, the more they earn." Instead of being angry and blaming others, consider the three fingers pointing back at you and begin finding solutions. Let's dedicate the next two years to ORGANIZING for the mid-term. Progressives need to analyze what led to our defeats in local, House, Senate, and presidential elections. The key lesson from the Serenity prayer is to focus on what we can change. NOTE: A majority (54%) of the adults who voted for Trump and his group read at a 6th-grade level and believe all his LIES because they "HATE" the same people. I spent 20 years teaching sixth-graders. If you don't believe me and your local newspapers written at a 6th-grade level, consult your trusted 6th-grade teacher! As a Teacher For Life, I will provide you with the "REAL" news every two weeks. Former U.S. Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall stated that when addressing problems, "The wise seek education, but the ignorant choose revenge."

EXCERPT FROM MY BOOK “WHAT WE BLACKS NEED TO DO PART 2”. Lesson #3 of 44 for parents and students to remember if TRUMP closes the U.S. Department of Education. He appreciates my nephew's economics rap, “The less we learn, the more they earn.” Every December, I experience both joy and sorrow. As a child, I celebrated Jesus's birth and mourned my Grandmother, Sarah Hankins. This January, I will again feel joy and sorrow, celebrating Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy while lamenting TRUMP's inauguration, his complete opposite. Three meanings of OPPOSITE: 1. Antithetical. 2. Dissimilar. 3. Diametrically Opposed. Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964 and donated his $54,000 prize, worth over half a million today, to organizations like the NAACP and SCLC. Dr. King was a giver. The New York Attorney General settled a lawsuit against TRUMP for stealing from 8 charities, awarding $250,000 each, totaling 2 million. TRUMP is a taker. My late Aunt Penny used three words to describe good and evil. If I mentioned MLK, she would say, “Thank you, Lord.” If I mentioned TRUMP, she would say, “Lord have Mercy.”
