PHILADELPHIA, PA — April 17, 2026 — Award-winning writer and mental health professional Arthur L. Jenkins announces the release of his debut novel, The Prince of Brown: A Fictional Memoir, published by Atmosphere Press. The 372-page literary novel is available in paperback for $19.95 beginning April 17, 2026. THE PRINCE OF BROWN | Kirkus Reviews
The Prince of Brown: A Fictional Memoir follows Denzel Davis, a Black queer man whose life is shaped by generations of family trauma, systemic oppression, resilience, and hope. Through a deeply personal journey spanning childhood, higher education, incarceration, the ballroom community, love, mental illness, and healing, Denzel learns that reclaiming one's identity is the greatest act of courage.
Blending emotional honesty with lyrical storytelling, Jenkins examines the complexities of race, sexuality, masculinity, family, and belonging while celebrating the transformative power of authenticity. At its heart, the novel is an affirmation that survival can become sovereignty.
"The Prince of Brown is a story about finding dignity after devastation, embracing one's truth, and discovering that healing is not the absence of pain—but the courage to keep living."
Drawing upon his background in psychology and counseling, Jenkins offers readers an emotionally resonant narrative that speaks to anyone who has struggled to find acceptance, purpose, or peace. The Prince of Brown: A Fictional Memoir | Barnes & Noble®
